Course structure

On the first day of the painting holidays, after you arrive from the airport you will be invited to rest a bit or to enjoy the house facilities. We will then welcome the group with an introductory talk over a glass of Cava and some snacks. You will then be served some exquisite food and will have to opportunity to get to know your fellow students and tutors.

On the following day after we have breakfast we will go to the studio to get started. All the equipment and materials supplied by us will be ready for every student to start their own paintings / drawings or watercolours. We will propose to the group to do drawing exercises of still life to cover all the basic elements of visual language such as composition, form, colour, light, perspective and texture. This exercise will help us to understand each student’s talents, and enable us to set a plan for the week to ensure everyone knows what to expect by the end of the course. Tuition is not compulsory and students who wish to engage in their own projects are welcome. The morning classes will be about 2 hours, however students can stay as long as they like with their creative process. Lunch will be served at 1pm with a selection of different mediterranean dishes.

After lunch there is some free time where students can enjoy a bit of Spanish siesta, the pool, some walks or to paint.

The afternoon classes will be 2 hours. Some afternoons there will be life drawing sessions and all students are invited to participate regardless of their level as they will receive support in their learning process. There is also the posibility to continue with the morning work, if someone is not interested in the life drawing session.

Supper, which is served at 8pm, will be a wonderful occasion to talk about the progress of the course and the experiences of the day over some delicious cold and hot traditional dishes.

In the following days students who wish to further their study of elements of visual language through drawing will receive plenty of tuitions in a small group and the other students who wish to do their own subjects will receive individual attention to progress in their learning process. A day of the week will be set for a group field trip to conduct sketches and to discover hidden corners of the wonderful surroundings.

The last day of the painting holidays, after breakfast students will be transferred to Madrid to make their way home.
